I finished my first project with this, about 25 cuts 1 3/4 steel tubing, no issues! I found it a bit difficult to get perfectly straight cuts, I may have to finagle with it a bit more, but cuts were still good, much better than my angle grinder. I’m sure for $500 I could probably get something better, but for under $200, this thing is great!
I was expecting to receive a saw that would cut sheet metal at best but this little saw surprised me. It's well build, sturdy and will eat through 1 inch steel bar in just seconds. Best of all it's small enough that I can store it under a workbench and out of the way when not in use.
Good value for the money that can be improved with a little effort.
I like the solid feel of this saw. It looks and feels like a well built tool. Having said that, some of the screws used in the assembly are/were Philips drive pan head screws with small heads. Those small screw heads were already starting to pull through the plastic blade covers. Another two screws of the same size were clearly not appropriately sized for their function of retaining a metal blade guard with one holding down a slotted tab. I immediately replaced these screws with Allen hex drive button head (round head) screws which have a larger diameter clamping surface. Some other Phillips drive screws were not tightened and some used around the blade guides will also be replaced.
This band saw cut through pieces of 1/2" thick 12L14 steel like butter. For the price, I wasn't expecting much; this saw is a really great value in my opinion. I will say it is not quiet; hearing protection required. The only thing I can say negative is the manual is terrible. If you've been around tools for a while, you can figure it out but there's no excuse for referencing diagrams by number when none of them are numbered. Lets talk about shipping time; I ordered it on Friday, it was delivered Saturday!
