Well made, Accurate cuts
Use to cut aluminum and steel tube and bar stock. Variable speed for different metals. LED light illuminates work area. Unit is fairly heavy and stable. Vise is OK with a quick release feature for easy adjustment. Just would like a more robust vise plate. Recommend.

Portable band saw
Worth more than I paid. Far better than chop saw or cut off wheel. I would recommend.

Does the job better than expected. Definitely recommend this item. No lubrication required. Speed 5 does the job.

Works great after a little tweaking.
Cutting straightness in a saw is always the most important thing, and while this didn't cut straight on it's own, I was able to make it do so pretty easily. It's amazing that the engineers who were smart enough to design this thing couldn't take it all the way to the finish line. The biggest problem with this machine is that it didn't cut straight vertically, but rather veered off to the right as it cut progressed downward. In other words, the saw was/is slightly tilted to the left. (The thicker the material, the more evident this became.) I thought about somehow shimming the saw itself to straighten it up, but soon realized that the simplest thing was to shim the vise instead. Through a little trial and error, I found that a 1/16"-thick piece of aluminum angle placed underneath the right side of the vise tilted it just the right amount to compensate for the tilted saw. As far as miter cuts go, the degree markings are way off, so you can disregard them. To rectify that problem I use a small square to align the rear jaw of the vise 90 degrees to the saw blade. So, if you're willing to shim the vise, and use a square to adjust the angles, you can get good results. By the way, I am using the blade that came with the saw, and it cuts quite well. Maybe a different blade would have perform differently, but who knows.Lastly, I double-taped a little block of wood and a little piece of hard rubber to act as a bumper to prevent the saw from slamming into the base after the cut is finished.Bottom line: If you're handy enough to use this saw, you should be handy enough to make the necessary corrections. It's ridiculous that you have to do so, but once you do, it cuts great.

Very good band saw works really good on steel
Cuts good. work good. all it needs is a lock button.for the switch. but that is all.

Good price m
The saw was cutting off about 1/16 on 2 inch angle iron . So I had to raise the miter clamp frame about a hacksaw blade height on the inside . That fixed it up and the cuts are much better. It's a good deal if you consider that Milwaukee and dewalt neither offer a porta band with miter base. The build quality seems ok so far .only time will tell. For most of us weekend warriors it will do. But Milwaukee has porta band saws over 30yrs old still working. However, it is a gear drive and that's much better designed over the chain drive. Both dewalt and older Milwaukee bands use chain drive with plastic gears. Only the newer Milwaukee models now have gear drive.

Tool cuts very cleanly, metal hardly warms up. keeps shop clean
I really like the way this cuts metal. Out of the box it was already assembled but needed the blade installed. The saw came with two blades. I put one on that it came with and turned the speed control up to 5 and went to work. Previously i was using an abrasive blade on my chop saw that was always creating dust, sparks and produced high temps in the metal. I was amazed at how this saw cut just the opposite. It cut faster, cleaner, more accurately, less waste, it was quieter, no sparks just all around a nice cutting experience. I had 12 cuts to make on bedframe material and also mild steel. The blade they provided did a wonderful job. i did not notice any slow down in the cutting process from the first cut to the last. I ran out of work so quickly. I put off cutting these pieces with my old saw because of the mess. I highly recoomend this saw. Note. In my opinion it is a great saw without the base cutting setup but i am so glad i bought this as a unit. I will rarely take it off the base and will only do so if needing to cut things apart. The base makes cutting straight cuts so easy.
