The unit seems like it will be suitable for kayak transportation. The assembly directions need improvement. A couple simple additions would help; 1. Note that the top slot of the horizontal crossbar has scalloped out (wider) areas to allow the button head screw to be recessed. 2. After assembling the horizontal crossbar, turn it upside down and allow gravity to help you insert the button head screws. Assemble the verticals to the horizontals, keeping the screws loose enough to allow the vertical supporting posts to slide while you adjust it for the width of your truck. 3. I used blue (removable) loctite to ensure the screws don't come loose from vibration. Finally, it helps to have a longer allen wrench than the one furnished- it gets your hand further away from the angled member while tightening screws. Use anything that fits to line up the hole the holes while you insert the first screw. (My Dodge had about 5-3/4\" protruding outboard of the verticals). Hopefully, these 2 pieces of advice will save you some time and trouble.
