Works great and as it should. It perfectly holds cinder blocks on top for added weight to get down deep. I wouldn’t recommend using more than two blocks.

My lawn has never been dethatched in the 22 years since we built here. My John Deere GT225 (15 hp single cylinder) pulled it with ease. I put two cat litter pails filled with water on the weight tray then tried without: both work well although with the weight on board, the tines filled with clumps of grass. Tip: make sure the grass is dry! It made a huge mess the first time I tried using this tool the day after a three day rain event. In some spots, clumps of sod were pulled up which actually was thatch. I raked in some grass seed, covered it with mowing clippings, and the grass made a quick comeback. I did this at the beginning of October. With the cool, damp nights here in eastern Pennsylvania this time of year is when we get our best lawns. Overall: easy assembly, heavy duty construction, and good results loaded or unloaded.

I use this on my yard to pull old cut grass up. Easy to use behind a riding lawnmower. Easy to build.

Dethatched for the first time in 15 years. Wow! Had to keep stopping and removing clumps of thatch from the tines. Hope i don't need to do that every time; hoping its only because it was so thick. Worked great on a large yard. Hoping the grass recovers and fills in some of the spots that are bare now. Got a large amount of thatch for my compost. Instructions were easy to follow but the diagrams were small and I found it hard to see what direction the bolt heads were supposed to go. I think I put some upside down because the nuts were sticking up into the tray where the bricks are so they wouldn’t sit flat. The rubber handle is useless. It kept sliding off any time I moved the lever. Attaching the tines required bending tabs by banging with a hammer and block of wood. Paint came off many of the tabs so it will require painting to prevent rust.

I put two cement blocks on and put a tie down on them. Tines work great. Brought the thatch up nicely.

Easy set up. Worked as advertised. Speed is your friend.

I bought this based on other reviews . I couldn't be more happier. this work great . I didnt realize how much dead grass was in the lawn. I bought this to get ready for fall seeding and aerating.

For light residential and for something that may be used once or twice a year this is the way to go. I am not set up to haul equipment from rental places and this was a budget friendly item. Not difficult to assemble but a bit of a knuckle buster doing it by yourself. Didn't realize it when I ordered this but I also have an Agri-fab trailer for my mower as well. Only down side is that the angle is a little off on the hitch for my John Deer so both tongues on the hitch have to be below the connecting point on the mower to make contact with the lawn. Also, did just fine without any weights tied on. Not sure I would want that aggressive attack and if I wanted more, then I would just ride around in circles on the mower a bit more.

I was skeptical at first about how light this was but boy, did it do a good job! Ten contractor bags full of dead grass. Our lawn says "thanks!"
