Very hard to understand directions. I put it together backwards. Took it apart and it w as ok. It is great for the price and heavy duty I would buy again. I am very talented putting stuff together this one tricked me

This is a terrific tool and I've used it to loosen up the ground on my property and to breakup the rough ground for seeding the soil on my property. It works so well. It is well built and holds up to cutting thru the drainage ruts caused by heavy rain run off. I also have used it raking up the loose and dead grass and it works well at that, too. It is an excellent well built tool and well worth the money. Happy lawn care... :-)

Light duty usefulness
Arrives COMPLETELY assembled with instructions that, for me, were only helpful as a parts checklist. However, after repeatedly watching the vid on the product page, I got it together. After obtaining a couple of right-size cement blocks, I hooked it up to my riding mower and headed out to a weed patch out back. Set the height adjustment and discovered right away that this is no ag spring tooth attachment like I have on my tractor. Headed back to the front acreage where I had recently mowed a section ratty sage, mustard, and foxtails, but hadn’t yet raked it up. Went to collecting the debris with this barely touching ground level and found it did a fairly good job of clearing the area. Had to clear out the catch after every 100 feet or so, but at least I got some manageable-sized brush piles that I could more easily deal with. So, better than raking the entire area. Build is sturdy enough for light to medium duty and materials are adequate for reasonable durability.

dethatcher
It pulls behind the riding mower, although it does work best with a little weight added to the platform, a couple of landscape blocks work well.

It works
Nice little machine. Does the job. Ignore the instructions sent in the box. Go on site of dethatcher and follow the video to put together. Takes time but worth it. You'll have hair when you're done...lol

Performs as advertised. Takes a minute to put together.
I am slightly reluctant to rate this five stars because I don't personally believe anything should get 5 stars unless it changes the world. But with so few ratings overall, I don't feel good about down-rating it just to suit my personal foibles. This isn't a precision instrument, but performs acceptably well for a reasonable price. The assembly instructions suck. A half-dozen bad 3d drawings with part numbers. NO \"instructions\" at all. You'll spend a LONG time staring at them trying to figure out WHAT you're supposed to be looking at, but they are (barely) enough to give you the information you need, assuming you'd probably be able to assemble it eventually, even without them. I *think* I got it together right. Close enough, at least. I dragged it around my yard once. It picked up some sticks and leaves, and scratched some furrows in the dirt that I will optimistically call \"aeration.\" This is kinda what I was looking to do, as I've used a bagger for years, so don't really have much \"thatch\" accumulation. If you put some weight on it, somewhere I read they recommend 70 lbs, your furrows will be a little deeper. The lever to raise/lower the wheels is kinda wiggly and so not particularly sturdy, but if you understand what it is trying to do (raise/lower the wheels so you can get to where you're going without scratching the hell out of everything between here and there), and kind of helpfully guide it, it works sufficiently well. I don't see using this more than a couple of times per year, so it should last until I eventually lose interest. At the very least, it entertained me for a couple hours on a beautiful summer afternoon while I was putting it together.

Works well
My lawn needed so much work from neglect when I was sick. Even since I've been playing catch up. Where I once had gorgeous St Augustine grass there were patches where the grass just wasn't growing well. This dethatcher did a great job dethatching and aerating my soil. I did make a couple of passes over the lawn and then fertilized and watering regularly. It seems the grass is beginning to grow into those areas now and looks healthier all the way around. This tool is easy to assemble. You don't really need directions.....and also easy to hook up. For the second passes I did add a concrete block to add more weight and get into the dirt better but it was heavy enough to dethatch. This is a nice home owner gadget or a good starter for a lawn care business.
