Nice little machine. Does the job. Ignore the instructions sent in the box. Go on site of dethatcher and follow the video to put together. Takes time but worth it. You'll have hair when you're done...lol

My lawn needed so much work from neglect when I was sick. Even since I've been playing catch up. Where I once had gorgeous St Augustine grass there were patches where the grass just wasn't growing well. This dethatcher did a great job dethatching and aerating my soil. I did make a couple of passes over the lawn and then fertilized and watering regularly. It seems the grass is beginning to grow into those areas now and looks healthier all the way around. This tool is easy to assemble. You don't really need directions.....and also easy to hook up. For the second passes I did add a concrete block to add more weight and get into the dirt better but it was heavy enough to dethatch. This is a nice home owner gadget or a good starter for a lawn care business.

Love it but took me 2 1/2 hours to assemble. Problem is the istruction book is a crap.

I have 1.5 acres of which 1/3 has died. I will not rake that much by hand, and the little electric models probably would not hold up. This took care of it! But I was so tired after assembly and removing the hitch ball off my zero-turn, I just tested a small spot. Worked better than I expected, had to add some concrete edgers to weigh it down, but then WOW! I failed to realize that now I have to get rid of all that dead grass, but I can just mulch it up with the mower (like I said no raking). Since I have a zero turn I can't reach the lever to raise and lower it. But I can get off easy enough

Make sure you bend the metal to hold the tines properly, I lost two of the tines and spent a half hour searching in my yard in the thatch to find them. Good value to efficacy ratio.

Works great and as it should. It perfectly holds cinder blocks on top for added weight to get down deep. I wouldn’t recommend using more than two blocks.

My lawn has never been dethatched in the 22 years since we built here. My John Deere GT225 (15 hp single cylinder) pulled it with ease. I put two cat litter pails filled with water on the weight tray then tried without: both work well although with the weight on board, the tines filled with clumps of grass. Tip: make sure the grass is dry! It made a huge mess the first time I tried using this tool the day after a three day rain event. In some spots, clumps of sod were pulled up which actually was thatch. I raked in some grass seed, covered it with mowing clippings, and the grass made a quick comeback. I did this at the beginning of October. With the cool, damp nights here in eastern Pennsylvania this time of year is when we get our best lawns. Overall: easy assembly, heavy duty construction, and good results loaded or unloaded.

I use this on my yard to pull old cut grass up. Easy to use behind a riding lawnmower. Easy to build.
