These are great. After nearly 10 years in the same house, our dog Luna was slipping on the wooden stairs and had become scared of going up to the point where we sometimes had to carry her. Within a day of these being put in she no longer panicked and rushed up, just sauntered up as she always has. The instructions talk about removing backing but there is none. There is also no adhesive but this turns out to be an advantage because you can pick them up and shake off the dust and dirt to clean, and they stay in place pretty effectively.
