The pull start broke on the first pull. We were able to get it to start a couple of times until the entire pull assembly fell apart. Now it is non functional. Would not purchase again.

Works as expected, only hiccup we had is you have to turn the fuel off when not running. Fuel leaks through carb into crankcase, so it got an early oil change!

I feel like most reviews complaining about this machine could have been avoided if people READ THE MANUAL. This compactor is great value for the money! Please read the manual, as it specifies which oil to use depending on your ambient temperature and how much oil to put. I had to use SAE 30, as I am in Arizona with ambiet air over 40°F and I am guessing most people should actually use that. Mine arrived covered in oil, so I made sure to add oil to the vibrator assembly and cleaned up the spillage. I had no problem starting it up with the engine oil filled to about 3/4 of the gauge stick and gas filled to the bottom of the gas filter. No leakage occured just a bit of smoking right at the beginning that lasted less than a minute, which is normal on engine startup. Overall, easy to use, sturdy, relatively compact machine that does the job if used correctly. P.S. it comes without a paver pad so I am using a small rug that my wife wanted to throw away :-)

For those on the fence of renting or purchasing, I believe the price of this compactor is worth stowing it away for another rainy day project. I had an issue with the delivery, FedEx had delivered upside-down which caused oil to saturate the air filter which caused it not to start. Customer service was responsive but wanted me to wait two weeks for a replacement filter which I later found out are readily available here on Amazon of all places…imagine that right?? Long story short I accepted their discount offer and bought my own replacement filters for around $10 for two of them. Assembly is straight forward, took me about 30 minutes as the instructions were pretty vague and covered more than one model, unless you are a complete goof when it comes to mechanics then you should be able to put 2 + 2 together on how this sled goes together. I used this to compact the ground for an above ground pool install which included a 4” bed of sand and it did a great job making sure everything was compact and uniform. Fuel consumption is fantastic on this machine, runs for hours on end on the small little gas tank, was very surprised to only have to refuel this twice for the multiple hours that I used it. Recommend this product, functional and good quality, essentially costs the same of a 1-day rental from just about anywhere. This is my 3rd Vevor product and I’ve had zero issues with any of them.

Worked flawlessly, Good deal, easy to assemble,Well worth the money! I will be using this a lot. I compacted a 12x24 stone parking pad for my rv. It only used 1 tank of gas very impressed with the performance.

For the price, this thing is just right. We got it shipped free to Alaska which is nearly impossible. Great little machine, did some sidewalks and pads with it already

Used this compactor on one paver job so far. It did a great job. Built pretty good. Just have to find a rubber plate or something for it so we can compact the sand in on top of the pavers.

Works very well . Was cheaper than harbor freight. Shipping was very quick as always. Compacted my driveway that was 120 x 40 road base gravel love it would highly recommend

Had an issue in shipping, but VEVOR customer service was able to quickly assist and get a replacement compactor in a short period of time. Needed a plate compactor for a house project. Instead of renting several times, this compactor was cheap enough to just buy outright. Has worked great so far. Easy to setup and has done it's job well. Still using it, but it's first project was compacting a few hundred cubic yards of back fill. Used in conjunction with a roller compactor, we were able to get really great compaction on 10" lifts in about 2 days. I've been using it to compact crusher run over the past few months and I can breeze over the area in less than an hour. Would recommend.
