As is, this seems designed for smooth pipes as the line you feed in will get stuck and start looping in rough plastic drainage pipes. That said, I was able to make it work by attaching the probe to the end of a garden hose then feeding the hose into the drainage pipe (the hose pulling the probe along with it). Worked perfectly.

It isn't an expensive locator, but it does the trick and makes life easier for less. I don't like the length of the probe, because it isn't capable of making a turn down a 90. But, popping off a fitting isn't all that tough. I suggest noise canceling headphones to listen for the indication. Paid for itself the first time, due to the amount of clock digging around would have eaten up. Big props on the price for the ease of use and functionality, well worth the cost.

So I rated this 4 stars only because the speaker in the wand is pretty useless unless the signal is really strong. And the line could be a little more sturdy as if it hits slight resistance it stops moving. But other than that it was very much a great help for me locating some subterranean pipe for my septic leach field

Was perfect

Good for non pro use. Use headphones if dealing with deeper (over a foot) pipes. Play with the angles of the hand held sensor and listen carefully. I traced my 3 ft buried exit pvc pipe of footer drain over 100’.

Locating where water lines were

Used it for pvc drain pipe inside house. Located pipe within 2" under 4" slab and 18" fill dirt. I feel it was a very nice and easy way to do this. Saved me from busting a bunch of slab to locate pipe. Great price, Quick shipping. Will buy from Vevor again!
