If your thinking of building a pergola, these brackets work really well. Purchase eight 4 x 4 inch posts and you're on your way. I had the bottom mounting brackets from a previous pergola and purchased these reasonably priced upper brackets to build a new pergola. Super easy to construct and then purchase a sun shade and turnbuckles and you have a really economical but sharp looking pergola. Brackets are heavy duty steel and come with all the screws to attach to the posts. I used treated wood but any wood like cedar will work fine.

Designed and byuilt my own pregolo. These worked perfectly. The only thing I suggest to build it quickly. New wood is dry and swells over time do to moisture. This makes it harder to seat the wood. Otherwise they worked perfectly.
