I got the 4x4 inch Brackets. These fit the 4x4 post great. the post you buy at local store. the size is actually smaller than 4x4 but brackets fit the post great. Very sterdy and strong. comes with all the screws need. Pretty straight forward to assemble.

Excellent Pergola brackets

If your thinking of building a pergola, these brackets work really well. Purchase eight 4 x 4 inch posts and you're on your way. I had the bottom mounting brackets from a previous pergola and purchased these reasonably priced upper brackets to build a new pergola. Super easy to construct and then purchase a sun shade and turnbuckles and you have a really economical but sharp looking pergola. Brackets are heavy duty steel and come with all the screws to attach to the posts. I used treated wood but any wood like cedar will work fine.
