Great cutter but your going to have to do some minor adjustments
First let me say this cutter is the 858 "Perfect/Stack Brand" S12 paper cutter that is sold else where. For some reason the branding that indicates the name isn't present but clearly the cutter is the same and even the flyer/instructions sheet that comes with it states the name as "Perfect A4 Stack Cutter" (A4 being letter sized). At first I thought it would be cheaper knock-off. But after handling it for a while I'm more certain that this was a unbranded over-produced run or possibly a quality control reject that kept it from being sold as a Perfect/Stack Brand, though it's possible that this is a return/remanufactured unit.First my biggest concern and the biggest bug bear. Alignment of the back guide fence. And just as I had suspected my unit was misaligned. I had accounted for this and knew I was probably going to have to do some minor modifications to realign it. Turns out all it takes is a 10mm wrench and some patience. If you turn the unit over on its side you can see the bolts that hold the guide fence. By loosening them and adjusting the fence ever so slightly you should be able to realign it. Note that its never going to be completely straight because the act of it being a manual loading cutter, but you can with time and patience you can get it to near perfect alignment that can satisfy your needs.Just as other people had stated there is a crap ton of grease EVERYWHERE. One of the first things you should do is bust out the paper towels and start cleaning it up. It's in every nook and cranny. I realize that the purpose of the grease is so that when in storage it doesn't rust, but the amount I removed was a bit in excess.I also found the draw of cutter handle seemed a bit stiff than was necessary. I'm a big guy but I can see if a smaller person could possibly having problems pulling down the handle. But for those that like a lighter draw you can open the side panel after removing the black thumb screws(2 on top, 2 on bottom) I was able to find the over tighte

Paper cutter for photos
This guillotine paper cutter met my expectations. It does an excellent job on heavy photo stock. I make note cards and other sorts of photo products and am happy with this cotter.

Great Product
I bought this cutter for cutting books for Fujitsu Scansnap. I knew scanning is very fast, so I thought cutting books will be a bottle neck. But using this cutter, I can cut books very fast. Now I have so many cut books waiting for scanner to finish scanning. Must buy for scanning books.

Does Extreemly well
Bought this for trimming small plastics and it does a great job. Only drawback that we could find is that it puts a slight curve on the plastic..But that also is not what it was made for... Haven't tried or used it for paper.

Exactly What I Need
I do CD/DVD duplication. With this cutter, I can make my own inserts. It is way too expensive buying the pre-perforated cards and besides, they are a waste of money (quality is poor on those). I can use high gloss paper "Royal Brites", print and cut to size. I use another "Carl" cutter to make the perforation for folding tray cards. Problem solved. Shipping was fast and the cutter is heavy duty and well constructed at a very reasonable price. Thanks to the reviewer that recommended this for CD Duplication. It works!Oh, Unlike other reviewers, I didn't find a problem with accuracy.

no instructions
This product works well but did not come with instructions or user guide. It also was dented and I had to remove a washer so the handle wouldn't scrape when I turned the levr to open and close the blade.

Only a small glitch!
The bolt on my handle holder thing has come loose and I cannot seem to tighten it without it coming loose againAny ideas?Other then that I love my paper cutter :)

WOW! Better than expected!
I ordered this for our office because we have been burning a lot of DVDs and to order custom sized DVD cover inserts was expensive. This paid for itself with one production! This is a heavy duty cutter, well constructed and designed. It only needed slight blade adjustment when we got it.Some other reviews mention the issue of excessive grease on the machine when received. While there was a little lubricating oil on the one we received it was easily wiped up and ready for use.The unit doesn't come with directions, but you'll figure out how to use it easily.

good and cheap!
Excellent product, with precise cuts and adequate for a small bindery. I was reluctant to be so economical compared to others with similar characteristics, but I've tried it and it works great, although I just bought.

Powerful and easy to use, but watch out for the back-bar alignment
The first few times you use this cutter on a big stack of paper or cardstock, you're going to feel like Superman. It cuts so easily and so cleanly that you'll be tempted to show it off to your friends by taking slices off huge phone books! One serious caution, though: in my case at least, the back bar wasn't at a proper right angle to the blade, so I couldn't use that and had to rely instead on the gridlines marked on the base (which *are* sufficiently perpendicular). I keep meaning to try loosening the bolts that hold the back bar down and trying to tweak it, but I still haven't gotten around to it.
