This is an excellent kit but my experience has been painful to say the least. My issues: 1. Instructions are appalling and written in typical Chinese English. As a result, what should have been a relatively easy install took 3 times longer than it should as some things ended up being trial and error. I am mechanically experienced having done much more complicated work. 2. Tech support virtually non existent. Replies are prompt but it is almost like speaking with a BOT: (i) Asked question regarding how much hydraulic oil the unit takes for a first fill. Tech support responded telling me what type of oil to use. Asked again, pointing out that they had not answered the question asked. Same response. Finally on the third attempt I received an answer telling me that I needed 2L. Ended up only needing 1L. (ii) Compression fitting snapped during install. Asked tech support of the type and spec /thread count etc. Couldn't give me a reply. Didn't even know which part I was referring to despite a clear explanation. I ran around town going to all specialty hydraulic stores within an hour's drive. Noone could match the part. Ended up heading to marine mechanic and guessed that it was a Seastar copy. Finally received this part at a cost of $47. Two weeks after commissioning and running the boat with new steering , tech support finally replied stating that they would send me replacement fittings. Great that they did this but a frustrating experience. Received new parts 6 weeks after purchase. So, I'm complaining a bit here as all of the above was avoidable and cost me heaps in terms of time and effort. On the plus side, the unit performs very well -steering has improved considerably. It's not finger touch but it's not far off that either. A very worthy upgrade.

Product works great. Fairly easy to install. Only problem is they don’t tell what type of hydraulic fluid you need to use. Called the company for support and never did get a straight answer just hydraulic steering fluid. Only problem with that is there are a few different types. Some oil based and some mineral oil based.

Everything in box worked except for the instructions! I used the baystar instructions instead! Better info on how to install this system! To bleed/add oil I simply put a hose from one port to other port and kept both open. As you turn steering wheel it drained the one quart bottle while reliving it of air in system.Replaced the worn-out cable system that was on boat I bought!

Replaced a bad seastar pump. The seastar pump alone was double the price for this whole kit. No brainer. Includes the bleeding kit as well. I drained my fluid, and this pump sucked up the new stuff and bled out air quick and had my 150 yamaha turning smooth as butter again.

I had the old cable system on my boat and it was difficult to turn to one side so I figured I would give this a try. It is definitely way easier to turn now it just takes time to get the handling down

Easy install and works good. Steering is improved quite a bit at full power. The old system took quite a bit of mussel to turn at full throttle. Would buy it again.

needed more clearance because of a jack plate, flipped it upside down, reversed the lines and got more clearance than I had with the old cable steering ,not as quick as the old rack & pinion but way easier to steer feels like power steering.

Does not come with the fluid. Must buy seperately so add that into your cost. After that, its about $100 cheaper than the next cheapest brand and much cheaper than seastar. I have not installed it yet but i did a lot of research and i have examined parts well. Noerl is the brand. Looks just like the baystar system from seastar. Solid helm pump and cylinder. This is not junk. This is quality for less. The jack plates from sea star are the exact same size and are totally compatible.... FYI. This doesnt fit all engines! You may need to buy a different jack plate from seastar for certain engines. All the parts are compatible. Go to the seastar website and look up your motor. This unit is identical to their base 150 HP unit. They are virtually identical. This system is built well and solid. Its not cheap nor does you get what you pay for apply here. I say save the money and buy this one. You have amazon behind you if something goes wrong anyways. Also you can use ATF or power steering fluid. Way cheaper. Confirm yourself dont trust me. But youll see if you research. I will update after install.UPDATE!Installed today. Very easy to to! The directions arent the best but if youre buying this you probavly know what youre getting into. This is just like the more expensive models! Only thing is i cant go all the way uo with the engine anyore, but its only like 2 inches less than All the way up, so who cares.Very easy to fill and bleed. I did it myself, you dont need a 2nd person. It steers like butter! One finger can now turn my boat engine. I am so pleased wirh this product! I will update again after use on the water.

Easy to install. NOTE: Make sure that you look at what kind of engine it is going on! This will NOT one size fits all! The engine attachment may have to be changed to accommodate the engine that it is going on. Other than that, I have put 2 of these on for 2 different customers and they are both happy with the product. Looking to purchase another for one more customer, and possibly one for myself.
