The guide bit is useless. Built a rig to line it up. Overall, good value for the money. Have drilled 4 holes through 3 layers of brick each and it's held up well.

Cool core drill for the price.

The unit I received was faulty. The screw that holds the pilot bit was stripped out, so that was useless. However, after I made a template in a piece of plywood, the core drill worked great to bore the hole I needed. I am impressed with it. I would order this tool again if needed.

Bought a 4 inch and a 3 inch. Used the 3 inch today and on the second hole two chunks of metal broke off. Also the set screw for the guide bit kept coming loose. A little disappointed as I had 2 more holes to drill.

Used it to drill two holes in flagstone set in concrete. Drill bit worked good, with one exception. It was difficult to extricate the core that was drilled. Core removal slots should be more numerous and on more than two sides of the drill bit.

Overall a pretty good drill bit. I needed to drill five - 2 inch holes through a 5 inch thick reinforced concrete floor. After starting the pilot hole, it was tough to get the large bit started due to the size. I found starting more at a slight angle, then gradually moving to a straight up angle made it easier. It is not an easy hole to drill, but this drill bit works well. The only negative is the set screws for these pilot drill bits will vibrate loose causing the main bit to really wobble badly. I had to retightened the bit often. And.. Definitely use water. Much faster, cleaner, and no dust. Well worth the money compared to hiring others or renting equipment.

As others have mentioned, the pilot is pretty useless and failed shortly into my core. However, this bit got through my 8” solid concrete foundation wall (took about 30 minutes). Not sure if it would be good for any future work as it slowed down towards the end, but it paid for itself on the one use.

I bought this with the intention of drilling a single hole through a hollow concrete block for a dryer vent. For that purpose, it worked like a charm. I was able to get through the front half off the block before burning out my cheap 20 year old drill. Another better drill finished the back hole.I saw one review that said the drill bit was too short. That was not true for me.I cannot speak to the longevity of the bit, but for the single hole I needed, this was a great value.
