I love this slicer. I use it every month to make a big batch of pet food. I cut organ meat so it gets quite messy. It's a pain to clean, but saves a lot of pain from slicing it all by hand. I bought a different brand last year but it has plastic gears and only lasted for about 5 months.

very happy with it. wish the thickness dial was inches. little better directions on how to take apart to cleand and how to use the sharpener better.

It's kind of slow to cut and has difficulty couldn't cabbage or any other hard vegetable. When cutting meat it does a fair job. One thing I don't like is that when cutting anything that there's no way of catching it as the slices fall off. So basically you're going to have to let it fall and then collect it behind it. You cannot put a plate behind it to catch the meat or anything else. You're just going to end up with a mess you have to pick up. It also doesn't drop the meat and nice stacks behind the maid slicer.

All in all, I'm pretty happy with this slicer. For the money, it does a nice job. It really isn't too hard to take apart and clean. The few things I do not like is the slide tray doesn't have quite enough travel past the leading edge of the cutting blade, leaving a portion of uncut meat if your meat item isn't partially frozen. There is too much of a gap between the slide tray shelf and the blade itself. This gap allows unfrozen meats to droop into that gap and messes up consistency. Also, the blade was not sharp when the slicer arrived. This is dangerous and unacceptable. I had to sharpen the blade for it to cut well.

A HUGE improvement on the cheap whitewoods store slicer. (I still can't give that away) It's super quick to slice a heap of bacon efficiently and with consistent results. The blade also arrives SUPER sharp. Drawbacks: Not finished that well. Some inner pieces still had swarf attached. Having a blade brake would make it easier to remove the whole blade for cleaning. At the moment I'm slowly cleaning the blade still attached to the slicer. Travel. More travel would mean I can slice long pieces of bacon, but I have to cut it in half to fit into the carrier. Possibly an extra length adaptor would be a nice option. The blade is plenty big enough, it's just the travel of the carrier that's limited. Overall: for the price, a worthy kitchen investment.

Nice solid unit.....heavy enough so it doesn't move while using and the slice adjustment stays in place unlike cheaper machines...mostly metal , not cheap plastic...
