Not too bad. Don’t expect fit and finish to be on par
Pros-it’s inexpensive. The bearings do spin very freely but I can tell there’s a high spot. Clamps tight. Would work well with addition of thermolocCons-lots of cons. Obvious this was machined to very low tolerance standards. Bearings don’t seem to be serviceable. Spins nicely tho. See video. I would not do any proper scrollwork engraving on anything larger than say three inches. I would think the larger version would be more suitable knives, firearms or larger pieces of jewlery. I will be using to stone set and I’m sure it’ll do fine.Use aL cans to cut and create shims for the center bolt assembly. See video.Would I buy it again? Maybe-probably. If I had the budget I wouldn’t fool around with this-I’d get a grs or lindsay positioning vise.

Good Value
VEVOR engraving vise (pin vise): My unit arrived with a GRS logo on a plastic button next to the jaws. Not being familiar with GRS equipment, I won't comment on workmanship except to say that this vise seemed to be well machined and assembled with very good satin-chrome and polished-chrome finish, and no burrs or marks. All accessory tooling fit as was intended and the action of the jaws was as smooth as can be expected. There was some catch and rub when rotating the upper half of the ball but because the entire ball may be rotated to any angle on the (nylon? delrin?) base, I don't consider that to be important. In use the two halves will be locked together. One of the features which I appreciate about the product is the set of tapped holes in the jaws and the cap screws to fit them included with the unit. You can create your own specialized jigs of wood, plastic, aluminum, etc. for whatever you work on. There are a couple of low-temp, moldable, reusable plastic products which are sold for this purpose. This device is heavy enough (around four pounds) that it will be stable for light assembly and glue jobs by itself; and there's an even heavier version available. If I were a professional engraver, things I would ask for would be the ability to lock the ball in position on the base and to screw the base to a work table. The rotatable upper half-ball would then make more sense to me. As it is though, the product is useful for anyone having to hold small and/or delicate items while working on them; and at its price point, good value.

3" Vise
I order this vise because I cannot afford a GRS at the moment and my work load is of a small/hobby studio. A fellow jeweler suggested I buy the 5" vise but decided to go for the 3", logistics was great, arrived on time and well packaged. I decided to try it right away and I had a small issue. The 3" vise comes with a plastic white base that has no grip so the ball kept slipping and sliding to the sides, I used some cloth, I use tape around the base and no luck :(. I called customer service and they answered right away, I wanted to exchanged it for the bigger one, not an option and unfortunately they had no solution for the slipping base either, they said the 3" vise is meant to be like that ;/, they offer me a shipping credit which is ok, thank you, but no solution for the slipping vise. So I went to "google" and found a GRS rubber base for this vise, I ordered and used it instead of the white plastic base, and it worked! For the price compare to the other high end vises is good, but certainly it could be A LOT better, is working well now that I have the rubber base. So VEVOR it was a small design issue that could be fix with an inexpensive rubber base that could be added to the item!

$650 vs. $150?
I gave this 4 stars. If I had paid $650 for it, I'd give it one star. For the price, I can put up with the wonkiness of the attachments. I'd be interested to find out if the GRS attachments would fit this (The GRS attachments cost $150 alone, but are probably well machined). As other reviewers mentioned, some of the pins are a little wobbly and don't fit in the holes snugly. But hell, for $150, I'm glad I bought it. This is one of those "You get what you paid for" deals.

Own grs standard and this one. The differences are insignificantly small.
i purchased this vise prob 3 days after i bought the official grs tools one. i debated which to get bc in my exp with tools, it's better to buy the more quality one thats more expensive than to buy the cheaper one twice or threee times... But when i ordered from grs they said it was on backorder and it would take a month and a half to get it. turns out it took almost 3 months to show up. meanwhile i got this one for way less price and honestly it's almost just as good. i would suggest start with this one. cuz your gona want the acccessories that it comes with, i didnt get that with the grs, and you can use the acccesories on this one and the grs, but not the other.. the grs came with two adjustment tools and fit a little better but not enought to make a difference.also the finish is being worn away by my hand from turning it, which hasnt happened wth the grs. so the finish is slightly better but its alost polished patina look, doesn't look that bad and doesnt efffect the vice performance. ive also bought the microscope from vevor and it's also good quality and better price. if your trying to decide, dont waste ur money on grs at least as far as the vise goes. imo

Newbie to engraving
There was a single spot upon spinning it that it would almost rub and create some resistance. I could not figure out how to take apart but when I was finicking around with a screwdriver and hammer, I spread it apart just enough to where it cleared that spot. So now it freely spins all the way around. It has an allen screw to tighten if you want more pressure on the spin. Being new to engraving, I am ready to spend $100's to get going in the hobby, but not $100's extra. This was absolutely worth it! Would buy again!
