This thing is pretty slick and very well made. The only problem was my juvenile birds were scared of it. Had to give it to the older wiser ladies.

It looks great sand compares to similar products: however the device to keep chickens from wasting food is ineffective because the wires are too far apart.

Looks like it should do the job. Too early to tell as the chickens have to get used to it. We have a problem with other birds stealing the feed and this should take care of it. It does not work for our chickens! When they step on the platform the lid raises and scares them away!

I have several of these and my chickens. They hold just about a five gallon bucket worth of feed. My chickens figured out how to use it on their own within minutes. Using pellets, there is very little waste and mice and rats have been kept out.

The chickens learned to use it very quickly. It is very sturdy, well made, and keeps the rodents out of the chicken food. Easy to leave the chickens with a couple days food when you need to go out of town. Works great. I give it 4 stars because I think it should be about 20% less expensive.

Purchased this as away to limit pests getting to our chicken feed, set up was simple, after a couple weeks chickens were used to the way it works and have had no issues with it.

Good item for chickens. It took my 6 weeks old birds less than a hour to get use to placing their heads under the metal lid. They were eating like pros by the end of the day.

Took by birds abiut 3 weeks of training to use. Super easy. But move the screwed once every 2 weeks and you will finish with them understanding it. Holds a lot of food. I use one for 50 birds.

This feeder works perfectly, and just as it should. I had the lid set to the open position to alow the chickens to get used to using it. But even set to the open position it still opens a little bit more when the chickens step on the step panel, freaking my chickens out, as the where used to a hanging feeder. So I had to flip the lid all the way open for a few weeks so the lid did not move at all. Then I hung a cloth on a bracket over the feeder leaving it hung just high enough they couldn't see the lid move but could see the food. After a few weeks I was able to put it in the open position, and a few more weeks totally closed. Now the chickens have no problem walking up, it opens easily with the weight of 1 chicken stepping on the step. I had the opportunity to watch a squirrel try to get into the feeder and after a bit of trying the squirrel left empty handed. My best advice if your going to use this feeder is to get it when your chickens are just chick's and you'll be able to forgo the frustration of training them not to freak out every time it opens. Also I've had several rainy days and nights, feed has stayed dry!
