It works great for pavement and smooth trails.
This kayak cart works great on smooth terrain. It might not be as good over rough terrain. I've used it on pavement and mild dirt trails without issue. It folds and disassembles quickly and easily to store in the aft waterproof compartment of my 12 ft kayak (Wilderness systems). My only negative is with the system of strapping the cart to the kayak. There really isn't any system. You have to just sort of figure something out. I tied a single overhand knot around the rear crossmember at one side so that the buckle end reaches across the kayak almost to the other side. The bitter end goes under the front crossmember, up over the kayak, back under both crossmembers, and up to buckle. You can lift with the strap once it's through the buckle to tighten it up. If it's too loose it doesn't tow well and if it's too tight it pulls the crossmembers back into the folded position and won't tow at all. Put the kickstand up and you're ready to go. I set it up about 2/3 aft. Too far aft and you're carrying most of the weight on your arms. Too far forward and the balance and weight is good but if your near 6ft tall the aft end can scrape. This is because it's only got 8\" wheels and it's low to the ground. This makes it less efficient towing the kayak but of its much larger it might not store and you won't be able to take it with you. You'll figure out what works pretty quickly. Sure beats carrying it on your head. And you can load up all your gear so there's only one trip to get to the water.

Great for multiple kayak designs
All our kayaks have a different bottom hull design. This sturdy cart works with all of them. Our big tandem kayak is heavy but you can pull it with one hand on this cart. It’s very stable and easy to use.

Good cart for my canoe
Have used the cart twice so far with my 15ft canoe. Without the strap(s) attached, the canoe will occasionally fall off, especially on inclines. Use the included strap(s). I noticed one of the plastic wheels got a puncture from rolling on a crushed gravel path. I may put some epoxy/glue in there to prevent further cracking. Overall, seems very good so far.

I am impressed!
Alright, brace yourselves for a mind-numbingly exciting review from a guy who's more comfortable with calculus than compliments. This cart is the engineering equivalent of a perfectly executed proof. It's simple, efficient, and gets the job done without any unnecessary drama. I mean, I put this thing together faster than I can solve for x in a quadratic equation. The design? Flawless. It's like the cart equivalent of a well-structured algorithm. The aluminum frame is sturdy enough to hold up a small planet, and the adjustable width is a feature so intuitive, even my cat could figure it out. The packaging was like unwrapping a well-planned Excel spreadsheet - everything had its place. As for the instructions, they were clear enough, but the wheel axle step could use a bit of optimization. Think of it as a minor bug in a mostly flawless program. Now, let's talk price. I was seriously considering becoming a DIY guru and building this thing from scratch. But after calculating the cost of materials and the potential for catastrophic failure, I realized this cart was cheaper than therapy. So, in conclusion, this cart is the epitome of form and function. It's like finding a perfectly balanced equation in a world of chaos. Five stars. Because, well, math.

Excelent cart, just bungee the yak down if on sand/rocks....
Great cart for the money, you can't buy the beach wheels alone from Hobie for this price. The kickstand works awesome, makes it very easy to load the kayak. You do have to either use the enclosed straps, or better yet I use a bungee (which they should include instead of the straps) to hold the kayak on the cart on the sand if it's rough, otherwise the yak will slip off the cart. Happy with it overall.

Easy to assemble
I had to buy this cart because the one that sits into the drain holes doesn't work with my husband's kayak. This one is made well, easy to assemble but a bit more difficult to use. It's also not that easy to store on top of the kayak while paddling.
