My Vevor Engraver was well packaged, and arrived with everything working. I got it just about a month ago. A key thing to remember is that the cooling water has to flow all all times when the unit runs, so be sure to install the pump. Water must be distilled. Overall, the instructions did not tell me so much – they mostly went on about how to use the software, which I did not use anyway. I have been using my unit with a program called K40 Whisperer, which works with various operating systems, including Linux. The Vevor Engraver mirrors and lens were properly aligned when I got it. There are many youtube videos about how to set up and use a K40 laser engraver, so I have been referring to these. Sellers on the internet (ebay, Amazon, etc) sell many accessories for K40 laser engravers that I found useful. I installed an air assist in my unit – this is almost a must, because otherwise material you lase will become severely charred or burn. I bought a new lens enclosure with built in air nozzle, hooked up a drag chain containing the air hose. A silicone hose for air is good because it does not kink easily. Seems that an small aquarium pump is not enough, so I have a larger one on order. I also got a honeycomb work platform with scissor jack for raising/ lowering the work piece to the correct height. Determining the settings needed to cut or engrave materials takes plenty of trial and error. So the unit is good, but using it is a continuing learning experience. Really, the unit seems to be a fun hobby already, and I am glad to have it, maybe the first person on my block with one.
