I built a welding stand for my shop. It is only about 18 inches square and is mounted on a wooden storage cabinet that contains all my welding accessories. I carefully cut and fit the blanket material around the cabinet and stapled the stuff to the cabinet. I have no exposed wood and even the door opening is sealed when the door is closed. This protects the wooden cabinet from sparks from my plasma cutter as well as sparks and splatter from the flux core welder. Since I do wood working in this shop as well, I run the shop vac over the welding blanket before welding to insure I haven't coated the blanket with a flammable coating of saw dust. So far, it is working just fine!
