This would normally receive 2 stars from me, but the price is excellent, so 3 it is.
I get it, this thing is cheap, but if something is marketed to fit your specific vehicle (2021 Tucson) then it should fit it properly. I mean, *TECHNICALLY* the cross bar fits. Just not well. The rear bar was super easy to get fitted and it looks great, issue is, the 2021 Tucson has a pretty dramatic taper on the roof line from front (widest) to rear (narrowest). So while the cross bars expand to grip the factory roof rack system, it causes the bars to flex near the edges. I’ve attached a picture where you can somewhat see the flex; however, it’s much more dramatic with the rear bar mounted since it sits perfectly straight.
As far as noise, they’re LOUD. Below 40 mph, it’s not noticeable with the radio on, above that, there’s no drowning out the drone. I picked up some stainless steel, self tapping screws at Lowe’s to fasten down the “locking” (more on the locking feature later) section, and that somewhat helped, but the sound is still there especially once you hit around 55 mph.
I’m regard to the “locking” feature. There’s a locking cylinder, with a key (that doesn’t work well), attached to a flimsy piece of plastic, which covers the fasteners. Sure, it might deter someone, but this is where the wind noise originates. Flimsy plastic on the roof of a car = not good.
Again, I get it, these are some of the cheapest cross bars you’re going to find, but if you’re going to market something as fitting a specific car or being “expandable”, at least make sure it does those things and it does them well.
Overall, if you’re willing to put in the extra effort, these are fine, the marketing should just be more honest as these are more of a “universal fit” rather than a specific vehicle fit.
