I have $500 bucks invested in a pretty cool e-woods bike based on a freebee 88' yamaha Dt-50. This motor has a good 6 to 1 gear reduction with a compatible 420 9 tooth chain sprocket. It was pretty easy adapting it to the cycle. I dropped the rear sprocket from a 40 tooth to a 32 smaller one. This resulted in a top speed of 13 mph based on a 17 inch rear tire. Fast enough for a woods bike and plenty of torque even for a 200 lb adult. I also went with a 48v 20ah li-ion battery and a 48v 1000w brushed motor speed controller. This motor runs cool even at an over voltage condition. Runs thru the woods for about 7 to 8 miles at full throttle before needing a recharge. I have put 50 miles on this thing so far and am planning on trying it with a 60 volt battery pack and controller. Well built motor, pretty quiet for a brushed type. Recommended
