Hi guys and gals,
I’m a CSIA certified chimney sweep and technician. I ordered this lightweight, inexpensive sweep set for my free standing Jotul stove w/ a 6” round UL103HT SS liner. The durability of the set and the ease of use surprised me. I did tape the quick push button connections together with a small piece of duct tape so I would not lose them during operation. The rods held up well during higher drill speeds in both directions. The first section also did a remarkable job of removing ash and creosote from the first 90 degree elbow section coming off the back of the stove. I accessed everything from the bottom T section outside below the elbow. I would not recommend this sweep set for glazed creosote, which is usually seen in improper installations or use and I would probably refrain from using it in an open masonry fireplace. It’s probably not heavy duty enough or big enough to tackle most of those jobs. I also think this set would be perfect for most prefabricated UL127 fireplaces.
