As of writing this review, I have ran about ten full batches of water through this distiller. I am mostly using this to supply a humidifier. Having read reviews from others, I had ideas about what to expect. Some said that it doesn't seal well at the top and leaks. When I first assembled it, I found that the top portion didn't nest fully into the base (due to new seal). For the first run, I used a few pieces of duct tape to hold it in proper position. After the seals had heated up and broken in, it fits like a dream without any tape. Some said that the unit stopped working early on. I suspect that this may be partially due to a little bit of poor design. If you are not careful when removing the lid, water could run down the side of the unit and onto the power connections on the lower side of the base. While not the classiest thing in the world, I taped a few "rain gutters" above the power connections in case I ever accidentally spilled. I pull the lid up and toward the front of the unit to prevent dripping on the back. I lightly scrub (with plastic sponge) and wipe out the tank after every run, which doesn't take long at all. After ten full runs, I am noticing some white accumulation on the inside of the tank so I suspect I may need to use the "delimer" soonish. I am not convinced that this produces a full gallon, but rather a little under. This is not an issue for me. So far, I have been loving this unit. While there are some quirks in break-in and careful preventative measures that should be adhered to, I would definitely recommend this water distiller if the price is right and you are ok with a few extra precautions.
