Using it to make water for my CPAP Zmachine and coffee maker

So Far, So Good
As any CPAP user knows, you become a distilled water junky! The humidifiers attached to the CPAP can go through a couple of cups of water a night during dry weather. As a member of the Geezer Squad, dealing with the heavy bottles from the supermarket/drugstore and the ever-increasing prices make a home distiller a sensible purchase. The price for this unit is great and the only difference with more expensive models seems to be the exterior finishes. I’m running my first batch and so far, so good. Setup is simple, except for inserting the charcoal filter into the exit spout, which is a bit fiddly. I finally got the hang of it. The rest is just plugging in the two cords, filling the tank, and plugging it in! It supposedly can process a gallon every 4 hours and it takes about 30 minutes for a fresh tankful to boil and start dripping into the external jug. There is an auto-shutoff feature that turns off the distiller when the tank runs dry, just like some coffee makers. So you can let the machine run while napping or sleeping without worrying. The unit isn’t tiny but it’s compact – taller than wider. It doesn’t have a large footprint so I have it doing its magic on the bathroom countertop next to the sink and it’s working fine. I’ve still got a couple of empty supermarket jugs so I’m going to fill them with water from the machine, which should give me nearly a month’s supply for the CPAP. So, good price, easy to use, and my nearly 80-year-old self won’t have to juggle heavy bottles from the store, especially in bad, slippery weather!!! I’m not planning on drinking the water because distilled water is flat and tasteless after the machine removes the minerals that give drinking water its flavor. But it probably does make good coffee or cooked foods in places where the tap water has strong or unpleasant flavors. Cleaning the distiller is basically running a batch of diluted citric acid (supplied) through the unit periodically – whenever you see scale forming in the stainle

Good distiller for the price
This is a pretty good distiller for the price. I measured about 800W while in use. It took me just over 3.5 hours to distill an entire gallon of water, so no issues there. So, if we want to calculate the price of this, lets be conservative and say it's 1000W and took 4 hours. Here it's about $.16/KWh, so about $.64 for a gallon of water. Which is about half what a gallon costs at the local store, so still worth it if you use a ton. I did go through the initial cleaning process with the citric granules as described in the directions. Testing the water straight out of my tap shows about 217 ppm on the TDS meter while the distilled water was showing 15. Not bad for a single distillation pass. Even though my water isn't terrible out of the tap, it did leave behind tons of calcium buildup at the bottom once it turned itself off. Looks like I'll need to give it a good cleaning after every run. Not sure what I was expecting in terms of cleaning, but I can deal with it. My unit did come with an extra set of carbon filter bags as well. Overall, no issues to report. Will update this review if anything happens. Pros: - Distill your own water when you want - Turns heating element off when out of water - 304 stainless on the inside - 217 -> 15 ppm on the TDS meter - Taste good after the initial cleaning in the manual - The top and bottom unit have their own cords so you can separate both easily - BPA free water jug Cons: - A pour spout on the gallon jug would be nice - Be prepared to give it a scrub after every use - An audible notification would be a nice touch so you can quickly distill another batch

Great tool!
I set it up, and it does the rest. I don’t know what Elsa to say, but 100 characters are necessary to post.

Distilled Water
This is a very good product, and is easy to use. The reason for the 4 stars is because I have to raise the water distiller to have the spout on the fill jug line up with the drip nozzle on the distiller. And then I have to tilt the water jug a bit for a snug fit so no water drips off the jug.

Works, though very slowly. Requires charcoal for ea use.
Works like it should. Didn’t know I’d need to buy charcoal packets for each use after the 4 they provided are gone. Would be wonderful if these companies would hire people who speak English well to write their instruction books.

Use a timer
I believe this is a good value for the money. I have used several over the years. The first couple quit working after6-8 months. I remedied that by using a timer a plugin timer to shut it off before the distiller would shut off and I'm getting a year or better use from each.

I luv my Vevor distiller. Easy to use, quiet. I do set a timer so I don't run it dry. I have a couple of times with no drama it turns its self off. Money savor for sure. I sent one to my neice as a wedding gift.

Perfect
This is a very nice small distiller. The lid closes perfectly and is stainless steel so no it does not rust. Saw a couple of bad reviews about the lid a d rust and no, lis has a rubber and in the instructions it says how it goes on correctly. Water can have iron particles that rust but the container does not rust. Clean with citric acid provided or buy extra after. Comes with some carbon little filters but you don’t need it really. It is a Vevor distiller and I did saw it on their website with the option for glass water bottle and in black. I do recommend it.
