Total no-brainer!
I initially planned to hang my electric chain hoist by a 10,000 pound test axle strap from a laminated wood beam for lifting my jet ski and trailer inside my shop, figuring I would lower the load to the ground and adjust the hoist strap position along the beam if and when necessary. BWAHAHA! That would have been a gigantic mistake! Instead I went with a steel I-beam and this trolley, and now I can move my ski and/or trailer forward or backward by a few feet with 5-10 pounds of pressure from one hand on the load. I'm tweaking the hoist position very often depending on just what I'm working on, and the trolley has just enough friction to stay right where I want it yet willingly move at my whim. I slapped a pair of spring-loaded clamps on the beam to limit the trolley's fore'n'aft travel to protect the wall and my car from operator error. The trolley's working load (1/3 of its failure limit) is twice the weight of my load (and I'm using multiple 10,000 pound straps), so I feel completely safe with my car, my sleeping dog, or myself beneath it. Installation of the trolley (and the hoist) was extremely simple with the aid of the scaffold I rented to install the beam the hoist, and the trolley. (Don't be an idiot and try all this from a ladder. The parts total over 200 pounds and beam installation requires two guys.)
