This cage worked great for our little mourning dove, Joey, that we incubated after finding two eggs while on a walk- one was broken, and we could not locate a nest to return the intact egg to. We hand fed him KayTee's formula after hatching, and he grew up in the cage with a heating pad to keep him warm. The cord fed through the slats easily. Joey may not have like the cage as much as we did, however; he would try to prevent us from returning him to it each evening, pushing back hard against our hands when trying to put him through the door! Eventually though, as he acclimated to the outdoors, he took off, visiting a few times with some new friends. I suspect he is now down towards Texas or Mexico by now, as it's late October in Minnesota:-) One thing- it would have been helpful to have an opening in the top to reach in at times. The side doors worked well, but I feel an open top would have facilitated the cleaning of the cage. We are very happy with this purchase, though, and I think you will be too.
